Collection & Materials
Sensitive to the ecological challenges of our industry, we want to create precious, sustainable pieces. We do our utmost to regulate our production and use materials that reduce our environmental impact as we develop our collections.
We aim above all to create long-lasting pieces, whose quality will enable them to be kept for a long time, and even passed on. We like to call our pieces precious, because their materials are selected with great care, and the details that adorn them are often the result of exceptional craftsmanship.
In line with strategy, which prefers preciousness to quantity, each collection is assembled in a reasoned way, with just the right number of references, constantly renewed pieces but derived from iconic shapes, repeated to limit the number of adjustments, and we also develop projects to reuse our fabric stocks from one season to the next.
We also try to obtain the most accurate estimate before launching a production process, so as to limit our stocks.
Our goals are partly conditioned by our production volume, as access to these different materials often requires us to order large quantities, more than we need. However, whenever possible, we choose materials that have less impact on the environment, without compromising the quality of our pieces.
More and more of our cotton is organically grown (without pesticides, insecticides or chemical fertilizers): for example, more than 95% of the cotton items in our home line are made from organic cotton, and for the spring-summer season, more than 50% of our women's and children's collections are also made from organic cotton. This specific cotton is GOTS and OCS certified.
We try to use recycled materials, which help save the resources needed to produce virgin materials. So far, we’ve created the key pieces of our swimwear collection using recycled materials (with over 80% recycled content in each piece), including a GRS certification which confirms not only the recycled content of each material but also the workshop’s commitment to environmental and social issues. Our goal is to produce 100% of our non-natural pieces from recycled fibers by 2026.
With their precious details and delicate materials, our pieces often need to be carefully cared for. That's why we've put together a small guide with all our best care tips to preserve each piece and make them last longer. Feel free to browse our guide right here.
We produce very few synthetic garments, but when we do, we strongly recommend using the Guppyfriend washing bag. When you wash clothes made from synthetic or recycled synthetic materials, they lose plastic particles that are usually not filtered by the washing machine and end up in rivers and oceans. The Guppyfriend bag, whose effectiveness has been scientifically proven, retains these microplastics and, above all, protects your clothes and improves their longevity by reducing fiber loss. A must-have available on our eshop, with our advice for optimal use.
