Collection & Materials
Sensitive to the ecological issues of our sector, we want to create precious and durable pieces, we do our best to control our production and use materials that reduce our environmental impact as we create our collections.
Above all, we seek to create durable pieces, whose quality will allow them to be kept for a long time, and even to be passed on . We like to describe our pieces as precious because their materials are selected with great care and rigor and the details that adorn them are often the result of exceptional know-how .
We try to have the most accurate estimate possible before launching production in order to limit our stocks . In addition, we organize a press sale twice a year to offer our community to buy our archives and prototypes at low prices.
As part of this approach which prefers preciousness to quantity, each collection is constructed in a reasoned manner, with the right number of references , pieces which are constantly renewed but come from iconic shapes, re-produced, to limit the number of adjustments , as well as projects to reuse our fabric stocks from one season to the next.
Our objectives are partly conditioned by our production volume because to access these different materials we often have to order large quantities, more than we need. However, as soon as we have the possibility, we choose materials with less impact on the environment, without this harming the quality of our parts .
We are giving an increasingly important share to cotton from organic farming (grown without pesticides, insecticides or chemical fertilizers): more than 95% of the cotton pieces in our home line are made of organic cotton for example and for the spring-summer seasons, more than 50% of our women's and children's collections are also made of organic cotton . This cotton is certified thanks to the GOTS and OCS labels.
We try to use recycled materials, which help save the resources needed to produce virgin materials. So far, we’ve created the key pieces of our swimwear collection using recycled materials (with over 80% recycled content in each piece), including a GRS certification which confirms not only the recycled content of each material but also the workshop’s commitment to environmental and social issues. Our goal is to produce 100% of our non-natural pieces from recycled fibers by 2026.
With their precious details and delicate materials, our pieces often require careful maintenance. This is why we have put together a little guide with all our best maintenance tips to preserve the shine of your pieces and make them even more durable. Don't hesitate to consult the guide below.
We produce very few synthetic garments, but when we do, we strongly recommend using the Guppyfriend washing bag. When you wash clothes made from synthetic or recycled synthetic materials, they lose plastic particles that are usually not filtered by the washing machine and end up in rivers and oceans. The Guppyfriend bag, whose effectiveness has been scientifically proven, retains these microplastics and, above all, protects your clothes and improves their longevity by reducing fiber loss. A must-have available on our eshop, with our advice for optimal use.
